Brief Outline of Training Materials

The flight training theory and practice for Deraya Flying School student's follows the syllabus drafted by DFS based on the requisites from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. All theories studied in class are integrated into the students’ practical flying lessons.

Each training module has different conditions for the student to comply with and they will significantly advance the student’s flying skills. All flight training materials comply with international standard aviation safety regulations and are presented entirely in English.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have agreed upon the conditions to be fulfilled for eligibility for a flight permit. This permit can only be obtained after the student has completed all the training modules, passed several theory exams andsuccessfully demonstrated flying skills to an examiner during a flight test.

Types of Flying Permits

All modules must be taken by DFS students before one of the following flight permits may be issued:

• Private Pilot License (PPL) is a qualification that permits the holder to fly private planes but not for remuneration. The holder of this PPL permit is allowed to fly single engine aircraft, subject to his/her appropriate ratings but may not fly a commercial aircraft.

• Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is a qualification that permits the holder to fly an aircraft for commercial purposes, including piloting a commercial aircraft with passengers. Training for this permit focuses on a broader understanding of aircraft instruments along with learning about more advanced flight standards.

• Instrument Rating (IR) is an additional requirement for a professional Pilot to attain international standards

Flight Hour Times

The duration of flight training for PPL: 50 Flying hours

The duration of flight training for CPL+IR: 110 Flying hours

Special Rights of Flight Permit

  • Students that already hold PPL permits have almost unlimited authority to fly a personal aircraft with passengers anywhere in Indonesia as long as it is under Visual Flight Rules.

It is relatively easy to convert PPL Indonesia to another ICAO permitafter the student has returned to Indonesia. PPL mayonly be used for recreational purposes to pursue a hobby for flying and not for commercial purposes.
